On the edge of the town, the green flag awarded Holt Country Park has over 200 acres of woodland with nature trails and organised events. Bird watching is one attraction in the area with the bird sanctuary at Cley and the coastal villages such as Blakeney close by. The pretty seaside town of Sheringham is only six miles away.

Perched on the cliff top edge of one of the prettiest villages in North Devon, Williams Cottage enjoys breath-taking sea views stretching from Baggy to Hartland Point with Lundy Island on the horizon. Perfect for couples looking for a tranquil retreat, this delightful character cottage is surprisingly spacious and stylishly presented throughout. The sitting room has a cosy wood burning stove and the alcoved window seat is a perfect spot to relax and gaze out at the amazing sea views. From the separate dining room, also with lovely sea views, a few steps lead down into the kitchen which has a stable door opening onto the garden. A fairly steep staircase, typical in properties of this era, takes you up to the separate bathroom and attractive master bedroom where you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of a nearby waterfall tumbling through a cleft down to the sea. Both rooms have stunning views. There is a stream just across the front lawn separated by a low wall. A short stroll leads down to the pebble beach, where at low tide soft sandy inlets appear between the rock pools. The famous village of Clovelly is well worth a visit, via the coastal path, and you can take a fishing trip from the small cove or simply explore the ancient cobbled streets. Westward Ho! and it’s fabulous stretch of golden sands, popular with surfers is just a ten minute drive away. Boat trips to Lundy Island in Summer offer a rare opportunity to see seals, dolphins, puffins and other diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. There is so much to see and do in this unspoilt part of North Devon, and Williams Cottage is a really special home to return to.

High Kelling is an attractive village close to the North Norfolk coast which boasts an abundance of pine trees and mature woodland. Sheringham and Cromer with their sandy beaches and cliff walks are just a few miles away. The area is superb for walking, and birdwatchers are spoilt for choice with Cley, Salthouse and Blakeney all within easy reach. The Georgian town of Holt can be reached on foot for the more energetic amongst us and it has a great selection of diverse shops, pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. Two National Trust houses are a short distance away, and Sheringham Park offers gentle walks whatever the weather. This is a great location for exploring the countryside and coast at any time of the year.

Lynton Loft is an excellent conversion of the owner's garage. It stands in a wooded setting in half an acre of the owner's mature gardens. The accommodation is very comfortable, attractively furnished and well equipped in a very pleasant and peaceful part of the village. Shop: 0.5 miles Pub: 1.5 miles

Accommodation overview: Duck Pond Cottage is beautifully positioned next to a one acre lake, a lovely situation for a peaceful holiday Reydon is only divided from Southwold by Buss Creek, a narrow stretch of water where the fishing boars (busses) of long ago used to tie up. All properties have easy access to the beaches and town centre amenities by road or the various footpaths. Reydon boasts two well-stocked village stores, as well as the Randolph Hotel which has an excellent restaurant and good locals' bar. Duck Cottage is a single-storey converted cottage set in the grounds of the owner's house. Beautifully positioned next to a one acre lake, stocked with fish, there are walks all around this quiet and peaceful area, yet it is only ten minutes drive to the sea and centre of Southwold. Nestling in the grounds of the owners own beautiful 16th century thatched Devon Longhouse, the elevated position ensures stunning countryside views and on a clear day Croyde Bay can be glimpsed from the south facing balcony. This is a lovely spot to enjoy meals al fresco or evening drinks under the stars. A gravel path and steps lead up to the front entrance and into the open plan living room with comfy leather sofa and flat screen wall mounted TV. The modern kitchen area is well equipped, featuring a breakfast bar, and there is one double bedroom with an ensuite shower room. Weez House is an ideal choice for surfers, and keen walkers will enjoy exploring the footpath leading almost from the doorstep to the stunning beach at Putsborough around 20 minutes away. To holiday with friends we also have a cottage called Thatcher’s Leggett in the same location. Croyde offers everything you could need in a seaside village, a renowned surfing beach, character cottages and a great selection of pubs and restaurants. Weez House is something a little different, perfect for couples and a welcoming retreat at the end of a fun filled day. Please note that infants are not accepted.

Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends.
