The sitting room has a cosy wood burning stove and the alcoved window seat is a perfect spot to relax and gaze out at the amazing sea views. From the separate dining room, also with lovely sea views, a few steps lead down into the kitchen which has a stable door opening onto the garden. A fairly steep staircase, typical in properties of this era, takes you up to the separate bathroom and attractive master bedroom where you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of a nearby waterfall tumbling through a cleft down to the sea. Both rooms have stunning views. There is a stream just across the front lawn separated by a low wall. A short stroll leads down to the pebble beach, where at low tide soft sandy inlets appear between the rock pools. The famous village of Clovelly is well worth a visit, via the coastal path, and you can take a fishing trip from the small cove or simply explore the ancient cobbled streets. Westward Ho! and it’s fabulous stretch of golden sands, popular with surfers is just a ten minute drive away. Boat trips to Lundy Island in Summer offer a rare opportunity to see seals, dolphins, puffins and other diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. There is so much to see and do in this unspoilt part of North Devon, and Williams Cottage is a really special home to return to. However, the pretty village, at the head of the tidal estuary, is a popular holiday venue in its own right and central for exploring the unique area of the Suffolk Heritage Coast - the tidal estuary and network of footpaths are one of the most interesting areas of Suffolk for exploring on foot. There is easy access to the fascinating coastal town of Aldeburgh, plus castles and much more to explore at Framlingham and Orford. The burial treasures at Sutton Hoo, near Woodbridge, should not be missed also. Part of Alde End Cottage was built around 250 years ago. The Ship Inn serves good meals as does the Beach Cafe which is well known for its fish and chips - enjoyed best on the beach. Dunwich adjoins Dingle Marshes Nature Reserve, Dunwich Heath (cliff top is National Trust owned) and Minsmere RSPB is only three miles by foot. Southwold and Aldeburgh are both ten miles away. Trains and buses can be found four miles away at Darsham. Church Farm Cottage, 5 minutes walk from the sea, is a basic, but pretty, single storey building situated to the rear of Church Farmhouse and the church itself. The cottage is simply furnished and is ideally located for all that the Suffolk Heritage Coast has to offer with walks on the doorstep. It is five minutes walk to the sea.
