Accommodation overview: Surrounded by the stunning beauty of the Kintyre Peninsula Barmore Farm offers visitors a wonderful holiday at any time of the year. Once the home farm steading on the historic Stonefield Castle estate these fine old stone built cottages have been lovingly restored. Clustered around a pretty landscaped courtyard the attractive crow stepped gables are among many original early 19th century features which enhance their period charm and character.
Set in 30 acres of countryside grounds Barmore offers plenty of space for boules badminton football and a large secure children's games area. Sailing horse riding and clay pigeon shooting can all be arranged and the cottages are just 2 miles north of the fishing village of Tarbert on Loch Fyne where there are shops and a good choice of inns and restaurants. Stonefield renowned for its sub tropical gardens which flourish in the mild Gulf Stream climate is just 200 yards from the cottages and has a small beach which is sandy at low tide (more extensive beaches are 20 minutes by car).
Quintessential Argyll the Kintyre Peninsula offers some wonderfully scenic forest and hill-walking. The local Art Centre is a nature lovers' treat with its deer park wildfowl pond and museum area. Ferries to the beautiful isles of Mull Iona and Colonsay are available from Oban (an hour's drive) while trips to Islay Jura Gigha and Arran are available close by. Five superb golf courses including the 18 hole championship links course at Machrihanish are close at hand. Cycle hire is available at Barmore Farm and there are numerous tracks to follow.

Argyll is fantastic for walkers and climbers and just behind the property is the Beinn Cruachan group of mountains, which has 7 peaks all over 3,000 feet (ideal for Munro baggers!). Cruachan (3 miles) itself is famous as the "Hollow Mountain" and is home to a hydro scheme built deep into the mountain and a reservoir high above - a unique attraction for all the family. This area is steeped in history with the ruins of Kilchurn Castle and Conan's Kirk. Accommodation overview: What a wonderful base to discover this beautiful area of Galloway! The Lodge is idyllically placed sitting adjacent to Loch Ryan and overlooking the volcanic rock of Ailsa Craig rising from the sea! The 'Cottage' is tucked away in a quiet and relaxing area of Stranraer where you can find solitude whilst the facilities of the town are easily accessible. Loch Ryan is a sea loch which acts as a natural harbour providing calm waters for the ferries operating between Scotland and Northern Ireland. A voyaging ferry ablaze with lights against a clear night time sky is a sight to behold! Stranraer is the largest settlement on the loch's shores and the town is reached in just over a mile; a very pleasant walk along the loch side. For children Agnew Park has pedal boats, train rides, an adventure playground and crazy golf and thanks to its unique geographical position the area is touched by the warm breezes of the Gulf Stream, however if it does rain there is always the leisure pool! As one would expect from the gentle climate, this country has some beautiful, diverse and spectacularly stunning gardens on offer including, Logan Botanic Gardens, Castle Kennedy and Glenwhan gardens, all being within a short distance. With around 200 miles of amazing coastline on offer, the area boasts some stunning beaches and on many days the only footprints in the sand will be your own. The coastline north and south of Portpatrick is indented with secluded bays and beaches - Morroch Bay, Sandeel Bay, Lairds Bay and perhaps the loveliest of them all, Killantringan. Portpatrick is cradled at the foot of rocky cliffs and looks across 22 miles of the Irish Channel to Donaghdee. This is where the annual lifeboat week and the acclaimed folk festival is held. Just down the road from here is Port Logan where the BBC's 2000 Acres of Sky was filmed. Stranraer is a great centre for the serious walker and it is skirted by the Southern Upland Way which runs 212 miles from Portpatrick in the west across the South of Scotland to Cockburnspath on the east coast. If you wish to venture a little further then head for the Galloway Hills where there is some seriously challenging walking to be had. The area is a haven for golfing enthusiasts with a plethora of excellent courses; 18 holes of golf at Creachmore, Glenluce or Dunskey at Portpatrick. Further east is a championship course at Southerness and you could spend a day in the area calling in at the Artist's Town of Kirkcudbright, The Granite Town of Dalbeattie and Scotland's Book town at Wigtown. Let's not forget the cycling enthusiasts too as the area has a good choice of world class cycling on offer with various venues offering the 7Stanes world acclaimed mountain biking experience. A really different experience would be to visit Logan Fish Pond, a fish larder for storing live sea fish within a natural rock formation on the shore. Recent additions to the original pond now include Touch Pools, Cave aquarium and Gift Shop. On the rocks next to the Fish Pond is the Bathing Hut, now restored and open for viewing. Since early times the area's proximity to Ireland has established close links with the Emerald Isle and why not take the fast ferry across the water and see for yourself how green it is on the other side! Belfast has some excellent shopping on offer for a day of retail therapy. Scotland's most southerly point is at the Mull of Galloway which unbelievably is further south than Hartlepool. On a clear day, Ireland, The Isle of Man and Cumbria are visible! Property is all on ground floor level.

Accommodation overview: In a rural location just 3½ miles from Campbeltown this cosy cottage is ideally located for enjoying the unspoilt countryside and glorious beaches of the Kintyre peninsula. Thanks to the warming Gulf Stream palm trees grow easily here and just 1 mile away Westport's fine sandy beach is popular with windsurfers. Set on the owners' working farm Langa Cottage also lies within a short drive of world class golf at Machrihanish on the shores of the Atlantic and walking on the Kintyre Way from Tarbert to Southend is close by. Visitors can enjoy a tour and a 'wee dram' at the whisky distillery at Springbank and the Linda McCartney Memorial Garden is nearby. Trips to the islands of Gigha Islay and Jura are easily accessible and the airport (4 miles) has twice daily flights to Glasgow. Shops and pubs 3½ miles.

Accommodation overview: In a spectacular position, close to the shores of Loch Linnhe with panoramic views over the loch to the mountains of Kingairloch beyond, this charming semi-detached cottage is part of the original ferryhouse which is approx. 240 years old. With a fascinating historical background, the ferryhouse has been sympathetically modernised to create a holiday home of unique character with several features put back as they might have been originally. The large sunroom takes advantage of the wonderful views and the rooms are traditional and plain in style. There is an enclosed garden to the front and rear where a path leads down onto the beach. Bed linen and towels provided.The very picturesque village of Port Appin is an ideal base for exploring and Oban is within a 40 minute drive. Day trips can be enjoyed to Glencoe and Fort William or by taking the passenger ferry from Port Appin across to the island of Lismore. Cycle and boat hire can be arranged locally and other activities include fishing, pony trekking and hill-walking. The village shop is 30 yards from the property and there are two excellent restaurants nearby. 1 double and 1 twin bedroom, spacious sun lounge, living/dining room with multi-fuel stove, compact kitchen, bathroom with shower over the bath .All electric plus coal/wood-burning stove.
