Approached by a shared driveway where there are reserved parking spaces, half a dozen railed steps lead down to a courtyard and the front door, which opens to a spacious ground floor hallway. Leading off the hallway is a light and attractive kingsize bedroom with an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin and a glazed door with two steps down to a lovely railed sun terrace where you can absorb all the sounds of the boats entering the harbour and the birdlife circling overhead.

A short flight of stairs leads up to a clean and crisp bedroom with full size 3ft bunk beds and a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and a half size bath tub. From the hall a carpeted staircase winds up to a bright and sunny gallery style living room with an electric flicker flame fire with slate hearth. There are superb panoramic and stunning views of the sea, estuary and harbour from both the full length french door and other windows. Off to one side, a couple of steps lead up to a large, recently refurbished and well equipped fitted kitchen which enjoys the same superb views of the sea.

There is a good collection of pubs and restaurants plus local shops all within a few minutes walk down a short fairly steep hill, as is a selection of small south facing beaches with a sailing club. A regular passenger ferry service operates to Falmouth, and another which crosses the Percuil River to St Anthony runs in the summer months. The 15th Century St Mawes Castle standing in a sub tropical garden is close at hand and there are also lovely waterside paths following the banks of the estuary which eventually reach the picturesque church at St Just in Roseland.

Gannel Cottage in Pentire, Cornwall, South West England

Gannel Cottage, Pentire, Cornwall, South West England

Sleeps 6
Weekly prices from £467 to £ 1

Self catering accommodation in Pentire sleeps 6.

Accommodation overview: Less than a ten minute walk from Fistral beach and with delightful views of the Gannel Estuary and National Trust land towards Crantock beach, this comfortable and spacious split level detached house is set on the hillside just half a mile from Pentire Headland.  The house was architecturally designed in the 1970's and still retains the charm of the era.  It is perfectly situated in a sheltered position on a south facing slope with lovely coastal walks nearby and just a mile from the harbour and town of Newquay

Approached from the gated driveway where there is parking for 2 cars, a few steps lead down through the garden to the front door which opens to an entrance hallway at mid level and an adjacent twin bedroom overlooking the tree shaded lawn.  From the hallway, a short flight of carpeted stairs leads up to a large open plan split level dining and living area.  The bright and sunny sitting area has comfortable leather furniture.  The lounge opens out through wide patio doors to a timber railed balcony.  From here there are stunning views over the rear garden and the tidal estuary across to Crantock beach and the sea beyond.  Also on this level is a well equipped fitted kitchen sharing the same marvellous views.

On the ground floor there is a shower room W.C. with hand basin, a bathroom W.C. with vanity basin and sunken bath.  There are two further bedrooms; a twin bedded room and the master bedroom with a 5ft double and views of the River Gannel

At the rear of the property, a pretty landscaped garden built into the hillside has a paved terrace with lovely views of the river Gannel as the tide ebbs and flows. There are several areas of lawn well screened with mature trees and shrubs.  Beyond the gate at the bottom of the garden, a rough hillside path with a very steep descent leads to the water front where it is possible to swim when the tide is in – only for the more adventurous.

The nearest pub and local store are within a ten minute walk and for a wider choice of shops, pubs and restaurants Newquay is one mile.  There are several excellent beaches nearby, including Crantock and Fistral with its fine golden sands and surfing centre which is the nearest about half a mile away.  There is an abundance of visitor attractions in Newquay including a cinema, zoo, aquarium and waterworld leisure park.  Riding stables, golf, a bowling alley and boating lake are all close by and a regular bus service operates to Newquay town and railway station. It is also within easy driving distance to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Watergate Bay and Rick Steins in Padstow.
