Accommodation overview: Just 2 miles from Bude's famous golden sands this pretty 19th century cottage was once Poughill village post office and still retains original slate floors and the old cloam oven in its comfortable interior. Set in the heart of the village and just a 200 yard stroll from the pub it is an ideal base from which to explore the spectacular north Cornwall coast. Accommodation overview: Perched high above St Austell bay, this impressive Cornish stone farmhouse provides fabulous sea and coastal views across the bay. Standing detached, the house is set in a well established and ideally designed garden, which also provides a perfect spot for relaxing and soaking up the ‘picture postcard’ views. The beach can be found approximately 500 yards away and is perfect for paddling or swimming, yet also has facilities for launching boats, subject to time restrictions. Porthpean is a small hamlet that sits directly on the south Cornwall coast and provides a peaceful secluded spot for a holiday, whilst being within easy access of many of the attractions that Cornwall has to offer. The Cornish coastal path runs close to the property itself and is an ideal trail for walkers to enjoy the coastline. The local 18 hole golf club is also within 500 yards and is open to non members on a ‘pay and play’ basis. The historic village of Charlestown, with its tall sailing ships, shipwreck and heritage centre, restaurants, bars and cafes is 1½ miles distant and can also be reached via the coastal path. The entire village has been designated a conservation area and retains much of its past charm, which is why it is often used as a setting for film and TV. South from Porthpean leads to Pentewan - a small village that has an old harbour that is now used as a bird sanctuary. Cycle hire can be found in the village, as well as sailing facilities and a large beach. A further two miles leads to Mevagissey, with its quaint narrow streets, art galleries, curio shops and working harbour that provides sea fishing, sightseeing trips and a ferry across the bay. The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Roseland peninsula are all within a short drive. Shops and pubs 1½ miles. Large, beamed living room with wood-burning stove and views to garden. Accommodation overview: Overlooking the delightfully unspoilt cove and dramatic cliffs of Crackington Haven, Manor Cottage is just 50 yards from the beach (recommended beach in Good Beach Guide 2009, Marine Conservation Society) and coastal path and provides a unique and breathtaking holiday location. The beach is ideal for surfing or rock pooling and the many coastal and woodland walks provide a perfect opportunity for some wildlife spotting - seals, buzzards, deer and feral goats all make their home here. Nestling in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this 250-year-old detached coach house has been beautifully restored. It retains many of its original features, but with underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, wood-burning stove in the living room and master bedroom, light oak beams and limestone floors. Beautifully furnished and presented, it provides a stylish setting in which to relax. Trout can often be seen swimming in the small stream which runs through the garden, whilst the summer house with table tennis, built-in barbecue and seating area make the ideal spot for an evening meal. The large lawn is ideal for croquet or for the children to let off steam and the gardens have many hidden seating areas to escape to with a good book. Two lovely beach cafes plus a village inn all serving fabulous food and with views over the sea just a short walk away. Use of the local tennis court is available by prior arrangement, local riding stables, golf courses, as well as fly fishing on the owners’ private Dartmoor Estate. The pretty villages of Boscastle, Tintagel and Padstow are a short drive and the spectacular coastline boasts many unspoilt beaches, with watersports, sailing and fishing all available. Widemouth Bay is only 6 miles to the north and Bude, with its many shops and large sandy beaches, is 10 miles away. Shop/PO 1 mile, pub and two beach cafes 50 yards.
