Old Bog Farmhouse is situated in a peaceful, rural area, surrounded by open farmland and with views to the Lake District Mountains. Aldoth is in North West Cumbria, 5 miles from the Victorian seaside town of Silloth and the wonderful Cumbrian coast and within easy reach of The Lakes, Carlisle and Hadrians Wall. There are numerous nature reserves along the coast and excellent walks along the beaches and nearby fells. The nearest pub is 3 miles, at Abbey Town, with many more amenities in Silloth including leisure facilities, restaurants, pubs and shops. This imposing property adjoins Knotts View, the 2 properties may be let separately or together for up to 22 people. They are set in over an acre of grounds with lawns and seating and Newton House has views across the Irish Sea. Situated 1/2 mile from Ravenglass, a pretty fishing village on the Cumbrian Coast, with sandstone houses, pubs, hotels, shops and cafes. The Ravenglass and Eskdale narrow gauge railway operates from the village station and travels along the Eskdale valley. Wast Water, Englands deepest lake, Sca Fell our highest mountain and the beautiful Wasdale and Eskdale valleys are all near by and offer great walking. Guests can take advantage of s 20% discount for entry to Muncaster Castle and a 10% discount off meals at the Pennington Hotel.

At Maryport there is the Harbour, Maritime museum and Aquarium of the Lakes. The border City of Carlisle is within 30 minutes drive. Barn Cottage and Loft Cottage are adjoining each other on a working farm, next to the owners house.They may be let separately or together for up to 11 people.

Accommodation overview: This delightful 4 Star rated, stone built cottage enjoys a tranquil rural setting, mid way between Cockermouth and Loweswater in the Western Lakes. It sits on the banks of Sandy Beck, a haven for wildlife and birdlife, including deer, red squirrels and kingfishers. The Smithy was converted from the former Blacksmiths forge by the owners in 2008. They retained the character, with vaulted ceilings and wooden beams and complemented it with the use of high quality furnishings throughout. Lorton, Crummock Water and Buttermere are nearby, with spectacular walks on the surrounding fells. The nearest pub serving bar meals is 2 miles and a wealth of amenities are available in the vibrant market town of Cockermouth, 4 miles. The accommodation is all on ground floor, which may be helpful for people with mobility problems.
