The family-friendly, sandy beaches of Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton (all Blue-Flag) are within easy reach, providing excellent surfing. Woolacombe beach can also be accessed by foot, (approximately 1.5 miles), via a marked footpath over farmland. Further opportunities for walking are provided by the South West Coast Path. The Tarka Trail, a 6 mile section of cycle path following the route of the disused railway line through woodland and unspoilt countryside, gives direct access to the lively coastal town of Ilfracombe, the departure point for days trips to Lundy Island. Venturing slightly further afield, the National Trust property of Arlington Court, Combe Martin Wildlife Park, Exmoor National Park and Barnstaple, the regional town of North Devon, are all just a leisurely drive away.
