The old town of Aldeburgh with its beach and fishing boats, cinema, museum summer theatre, shops and restaurants, and Leiston with its leisure centre/pool, cinema and museum are about 4 miles away. As is Snape Maltings, which has shopping/galleries, and the concert hall. Thorpeness has its own laid back style and boating mere, is approximately 5 miles . Countryside with good, interesting walks is all around, of note are Dunwich heath, Minsmere bird reserve, and Rendlesham forest , Southwold, Walberswick, Orford and Woodbridge all are within 25 miles drive. 1 Chequers Row is on the end of a terrace of four houses which was built about 20 years ago, but is designed to look like a terrace of period cottages. It has an east/south facing garden with a walnut tree that gives dappled shade. It is a peaceful retreat with no parking worries and is within easy reach of interesting days out. Accommodation overview: A charming property that has been fully modernised whilst retaining its character. The accommodation is well equipped and very attractive, close to beach and the small coastal towns of Sheringham and Cromer.

East Runton lies on the A149 coast road between the resorts of Sheringham and Cromer. A steepish lane leads down to the beach where at low tide there is a wide expanse of flat sand perfect for sandcastles or ball games. The beach is backed by high cliffs and there are paths into Cromer or the neighbouring village of West Runton. Away from the coast is a cluster of traditional brick and flint cottages, and an attractive green and duck pond. The village is well placed for exploring the area but if you wish to remain closer to home there are several small shops, two pubs and a restaurant serving meals.

Silvergate Cottage is an attractive, traditional brick and flint cottage in the centre of this small coastal village. It has been completely refurbished and while character features such as beams have been retained, there is a modern contemporary feel to the property. It is famous for its fishing boats that still work off the shore and offer freshly caught seafood. The town has a fine pier, a local history museum, a new lifeboat museum, a golf course, multi-screen cinema, Amazonia zoo, Kart Track, cycle hire, shops and restaurants as well as seafront entertainment, making it ideal for a family holiday. Cromer church tower is the tallest in Norfolk and the more adventurous might like to climb to the top to enjoy the wonderful views.

The pleasant village of Snettisham offers something for everyone, whatever your age and whatever the weather! The beach is less than three miles and, with the traditional seaside resort of Hunstanton five miles away, it is a perfect location for discovering Norfolk's splendid coastline. Ornithologists will enjoy the RSPB reserves close by and there are many excellent walks and cycle rides in the area. There are many attractions offering excellent days out nearby. The village has a selection of shops and there are also many pubs which serve food.

Lilac Cottage and Laburnham Cottage (1189) are pretty red brick terrace cottages with pantile roofs, built in 1910 and situated in the centre of the village conservation area, in a tranquil setting.
