A fairly steep staircase, typical in properties of this era, takes you up to the separate bathroom and attractive master bedroom where you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of a nearby waterfall tumbling through a cleft down to the sea. Both rooms have stunning views. There is a stream just across the front lawn separated by a low wall. A short stroll leads down to the pebble beach, where at low tide soft sandy inlets appear between the rock pools. The famous village of Clovelly is well worth a visit, via the coastal path, and you can take a fishing trip from the small cove or simply explore the ancient cobbled streets. Westward Ho! and it’s fabulous stretch of golden sands, popular with surfers is just a ten minute drive away. Boat trips to Lundy Island in Summer offer a rare opportunity to see seals, dolphins, puffins and other diverse wildlife in their natural habitat. This unique and fascinating cottage, steeped in local history, has been lovingly restored to provide a wonderful holiday retreat. Formerly a working Smithy many of the original features remain. The huge open plan living area with original oak beams and high vaulted ceiling is complemented by contemporary styling. Comfy sofas surround the fireplace with a log burning stove inviting cosy evenings, and a spacious dining area is ideal for leisurely breakfasts. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you could need and more. A wide wooden staircase rises to the landing and on to the Minstrels Gallery where a half loft, originally used to store the iron, has been transformed into a unique double bedroom, open to the high vaulted ceiling and with a balustrade overlooking the living room below. A second compact double bedroom and a single bedroom with views over the town are found off the landing, together with an attractive bathroom. The Smithy provides guests with an opportunity to step back in time and experience the atmosphere of this genuine forge where Mr Bill Prideaux, working up to the age of 89, claimed to be the oldest blacksmith in the country. Today's visitors of course will be able to relax and enjoy their stay with excellent modern facilities and be ideally located right in the heart of Lynton with a choice of shops, restaurants and village inns nearby.
