The beach path also winds its way from the village to beautiful Croyde Bay and the softest golden sands backed by dunes. Being in the same location as our cottage Thatcher’s Leggett gives a perfect opportunity for extended families or friends to enjoy their own space while holidaying together. With a high vaulted ceiling giving a sense of space and light, the spacious comfortable open plan living room has a log burning stove for cosy evenings all through the year and a modern well equipped kitchen /dining area. An attractive twin bedroom and shower room is also on the ground floor. From the entrance hallway a solid wood staircase rises up to the mezzanine floor and a spacious double bedroom with separate dressing room and ensuite bathroom. This attractive galleried landing area, with far reaching views, is a lovely spot for relaxing in the comfy chairs to read a book or the morning papers, and a second TV is a useful bonus for families. A real treat is the large lawn to the side of the cottage, ideal for children to run and play, and the pretty front patio is just perfect for leisurely al fresco meals, barbecues or just relaxing at any time of day. Keen walkers will enjoy taking the footpath to stunning Putsborough beach, which leads almost from the doorstep and takes around twenty minutes.

It really does offer the best of both worlds; this impressive detached home is surrounded by stunning rural scenery yet sits only two miles from the principal market town of Barnstaple and just a short drive away from a choice of stunning North Devon beaches. Access to J27 of the M5 is less than an hour away. As soon as you enter through the pillared wooden gates onto the private sweeping driveway, you will know you have arrived somewhere really special to relax and unwind. The spacious contemporary accommodation is light and bright throughout, with high quality furnishings, stylishly presented. A superbly equipped kitchen/dining room is at the heart of the house, where the whole family can gather for leisurely breakfasts or catch up on the days adventures over dinner. This dual aspect room has French doors opening onto a choice of two terraces, which enjoy the sun at different times of day. Two separate living rooms ensure plenty of space for everyone to relax or play and both have doors which open directly onto one of the terraces which surround the property on all sides for easy access to superb views. In the grounds just across the gravelled car park there is a delightful self contained cottage that sleeps two with its own kitchen/diner and bathroom. The cottage is secluded and has a private garden area. There is a residential let in until August 5th, however if you are interested in renting both Priory House and Priory Cottage altogether after this date please contact the office and we will provide you with a special tariff.
For larger family groups or for two families holidaying together, Priory House is just perfect for getting away from it all in spacious comfortable surroundings. This unique and fascinating cottage, steeped in local history, has been lovingly restored to provide a wonderful holiday retreat. Formerly a working Smithy many of the original features remain. The huge open plan living area with original oak beams and high vaulted ceiling is complemented by contemporary styling. Comfy sofas surround the fireplace with a log burning stove inviting cosy evenings, and a spacious dining area is ideal for leisurely breakfasts. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with everything you could need and more. A wide wooden staircase rises to the landing and on to the Minstrels Gallery where a half loft, originally used to store the iron, has been transformed into a unique double bedroom, open to the high vaulted ceiling and with a balustrade overlooking the living room below. A second compact double bedroom and a single bedroom with views over the town are found off the landing, together with an attractive bathroom. The Smithy provides guests with an opportunity to step back in time and experience the atmosphere of this genuine forge where Mr Bill Prideaux, working up to the age of 89, claimed to be the oldest blacksmith in the country. Today's visitors of course will be able to relax and enjoy their stay with excellent modern facilities and be ideally located right in the heart of Lynton with a choice of shops, restaurants and village inns nearby.
