Accommodation overview: A unique 16th century former Mill House sitting right on the waters edge in Lee Bay, overflowing with character and charm. The Mill House is a wonderful 16th Century listed property standing right on the water's edge of Lee Bay and has been featured both in magazines and on television. Period features include the original milling room, inglenook fireplace, bread ovens, boathouse and the drawbridge over the mill race. A stable door leads you directly into the fabulous kitchen with granite work surfaces and central island with Bombo stools. Dining can be enjoyed in the original Mill Room with views looking out to sea and where French doors give access to the terrace and gardens. The main living room boasts a flagstone floor with inglenook fireplace and wood burning stove and in addition there is a second comfortable sitting room with open fireplace. With five bedrooms in total, bedroom five is located on a mezzanine floor over the Mill Room, accessed via open wooden steps, which are narrow and steep. All are served by a separate bathroom and modern shower room with twin head walk-in power shower plus a separate WC. The front terrace is enclosed by a stone wall, and the rear garden is on several levels with patios and an area of level lawn with garden furniture perfect for al fresco dining. Boundaries with the bay are secure with railings and the mill race is safely covered with steel mesh. You can sit out on the terrace overlooking the bay and enjoy a drink, barbecue and the fabulous sunsets. Longstraw nestles at the end of a row of three, with a large lawned garden to the side and pretty patio to the front looking out over the countryside. Just a few minutes stroll will take you to the village centre with its charming mix of thatched cottages, local stores and a great choice of pubs and restaurants. Being in the same location as our cottage Thatcher’s Leggett gives a perfect opportunity for extended families or friends to enjoy their own space while holidaying together. With a high vaulted ceiling giving a sense of space and light, the spacious comfortable open plan living room has a log burning stove for cosy evenings all through the year and a modern well equipped kitchen /dining area. An attractive twin bedroom and shower room is also on the ground floor. From the entrance hallway a solid wood staircase rises up to the mezzanine floor and a spacious double bedroom with separate dressing room and ensuite bathroom. This attractive galleried landing area, with far reaching views, is a lovely spot for relaxing in the comfy chairs to read a book or the morning papers, and a second TV is a useful bonus for families. A real treat is the large lawn to the side of the cottage, ideal for children to run and play, and the pretty front patio is just perfect for leisurely al fresco meals, barbecues or just relaxing at any time of day.
