The fishing villages of Appledore and Clovelly are close by and are well worth a visit, as are a host of other quaint little villages, each with its own unique character, charm and welcoming inn. The Tarka Trail offers walking and cycling along the estuary with cycle hire available. Within easy driving distance is Hartland, where the dramatic English Heritage coastline has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. RHS Rosemoor Gardens, Tapley Park, Dartington Crystal, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way are all popular local family attractions. For surfers and beach lovers the sandy beaches are not to be missed. Westward Ho! (Blue Flag) can be reached in 15 minutes and many other attractive beaches are not far away.
