Truro offers a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants together with art galleries and the local museum with many specialist shops in winding side streets. A regular weekly local market has a wide range of local Cornish produce and crafts. From Truro a boat trip can be taken to St Mawes, Falmouth or the Helford river to explore Daphne du Maurier’s Frenchman’s Creek. Falmouth is nearby with a choice of sandy beaches and excellent sailing. The National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle are popular attractions together with the multitude of gardens open to the public. Trelissick Gardens is at the head of the Fal estuary with sweeping panoramic views and woodland walks along the river amidst the surrounding parkland. Glendurgan Garden at Mawnan Smith is a valley garden created in the 1820s, which offers a maze and many species of exotic and rare plants with showy camellias and magnolias making a magnificent display. Alternatively head to the north coast for Perranporth with its wide sandy beaches and surfing schools or visit St Austell for the exciting Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Accommodation overview: Lying just 400 yards from the picturesque harbour in a conservation area, this charming detached property nestles into the cliffside, and commands outstanding views over the harbour and sea beyond. During the summer months there are spectacular views of the sunset out to sea. Furnished to a very high standard, its two ground floor bedrooms each have patio doors leading to either a terrace, or to a large decked area that surrounds the house. Both first floor bedrooms have en-suite facilities, with one enjoying sea and cliff views from its elevated vantage point.
Just a short stroll down the hill leads to a shingle beach and a selection of good restaurants and pub. Half a mile to the east of the property lies the picturesque cove of Port Gaverne with a shingle beach, rock pools and its good pub/restaurant/hotel. Port Isaac lies on the famous south-west coast path and has cliff walks with wild flowers and stunning sea views to both east and west along NT paths. The sandy beaches of Trebarwith Strand to the east, and Polzeath/New Polzeath to the west are within a ¼ hour’s drive and have wonderful swimming and surfing facilities. Port Isaac is a similar distance away from the well known coastal resort of Rock with its shops, bars, restaurants and sailing. Picturesque Padstow lies close by and is characterised by quaint streets and slate houses that cluster round the working fish harbour, together with its famous Rick Stein restaurants and bistro. From Padstow harbour, boats offer cruises in Padstow Bay and a ferry trip across the estuary to Rock can be made. Forming part of the Camel Trail, the 5-mile Padstow to Wadebridge stretch offers cyclists a level route that passes by Pinkson Creek, a habitat rich in bird life. Tintagel, with its mystical castle is but a short drive away, and Bodmin Moor also lies within easy reach. There are a number of golf courses in the area, including the well known St Enedoc and Trevose courses. Shop 200 yards.

It is only a short drive to a host of sheltered coves and sandy beaches as well as attractions including the Tamar Otter Park, Brooklands Adventure Park, Launceston Steam Railway, The Eden Project, Tintagel with its legends of King Arthur and the Knights of The Round Table, and Boscastle with its fishing trips to name but a few.
