The area has something for everyone - for birdwatchers there's the RSPB reserve at Minsmere, North Warren and Havergate Island, 18-hole golf courses at Thorpeness, Aldeburgh and Woodbridge, boating, tennis at Thorpeness and sailing at Aldeburgh. Accommodation overview: Drift In is a traditional 'seaside' cottage, situated at the quiet end of the high street, yet within easy reach of the beach and a variety of shops. Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. The upper promenade is ideal for a peaceful stroll at any time of the year and provides quick access to the beach and of course, the lighthouse in the town is a good landmark. There is also easy access to the common and a nearby footpath takes you down to the harbour with the foot ferry to Walberswick (summer only). Don't forget that the beach is never very far away!
