Trains and buses can be found four miles away at Darsham. Walnut Tree Cottage is a traditional Suffolk cottage situated in a wooded valley accessed by a long, narrow unsurfaced lane. The cottage is simply furnished and is ideal for exploring all that the Suffolk Heritage Coast has to offer. Accommodation overview: Beautifully furnished property in convenient location for Southwold and the Heritage Coast Reydon is only divided from Southwold by Buss Creek, a narrow stretch of water where the fishing boats (busses) of long ago used to tie up. All properties therefore have easy access to the beaches and the town centre amenities by road or the various footpaths. Reydon boasts two well-stocked village stores, as well as the Randolph Hotel, which has an excellent restaurant and good friendly bar. Accommodation overview: Avon Cottage, a nicely proportioned 19th Century cottage, is just one road back from the sea front. Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends. Accommodation overview: Lavender Cottage is an 18th century large family cottage with a lovely homely feel in the centre of the pretty village of Westleton. Westleton is a pretty village midway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, with the coast at Dunwich only two and a half miles away. Centred around a large green, Westleton is one of the most popular places to stay on the Heritage Coast. It is an ideal base for the beach or for Minsmere, as well as the coastal heaths and forests. There are two good pubs, a restaurant and well-stocked village store/post office - all in the village centre. Much of the area around the village is accessible open heath or mixed woodland.
