Just a mile north of Aldeburgh is this fascinating seaside village, built in the 1920s by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie, an architect, barrister and playwright. There is a good eating pub nearby which welcomes children; an exceptional fish and chip restaurant; a tea room and all the hustle and bustle of a sailing and fishing community. Harbour Cottage overlooks the river and enjoys the benefits of a unique coastal location. A holiday here will undoubtedly provide countless happy memories. Accommodation overview: The Cabin is an ideal holiday home with sea views from the upstairs bedroom - it is almost on the beach and provides excellent family accommodation. Southwold Denes - Southwold Denes stretches from Gun Hill to the harbour's mouth and acts as a vital sea defence for the town. Suffolk Coast and Heaths (to whom our customer's £1 booking donation goes) are working with several agencies to restore and maintain the important area. It is the home of skylarks and little terns (please be careful not to disturb the nests) and the habitat of sea holly, sea pea and bird's foot trefoil to name a few. Our properties here enjoy the sunrise over the sea and stunning sunsets over the marshes.
