Happisburgh (pronounced Haisbro) is a seaside village on the North East Coast of Norfolk. It has considerable historic charm with many thatched cottages and a handsome church, whose tower top is now accessible to visitors. There is a prominent red and white striped lighthouse, and the beach is loved by all age groups. There are some lovely coastal and rural walks in the area and many attractions to visit, including the Broads and the Royal Horticultural Society garden at East Ruston.

Heather Cottage is an attractively presented, pleasant, modern cottage. It is well maintained and offers a warm welcome at any time of the year. A shortcut beyond the pub, across a field and down a lane you will come to a new car park and picnic area and a wide sandy bay, all of this only about a ten minute walk from the cottage. Hindringham is a pretty village, approximately six miles from the beautiful beaches of Wells and Holkham and five miles from the salt marshes of Stiffkey and nearby Blakeney. It is a relaxing place to return to after a busy day on the beach or from having visited one of the many attractions in the area. Holt is seven miles away and offers an excellent variety of specialist shops and dining places. There is an outstanding village shop in Binham located two miles away. In the surrounding villages there are many pubs, which serve good food.

Once an important place of pilgrimage, the ruins of Bromholme Priory are still to be seen in Bacton today. The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholme Roode. Ensuing miracles ensured visits by many thousands of pilgrims including King Henry III. The priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shiptons Almanac. Today the coastal village opens its doors to the 21st century pilgrims who visit for their holidays. They enjoy the friendly village atmosphere and the sandy beaches, which are often quiet even in the height of summer. There is a good range of local amenities including pubs, shops, a children's playground and a bowling green.
