This grand detached house adapts itself to many different types of holiday. For an adventure-filled family holiday it is perfectly located to explore the Suffolk Heritage coastline and is in close proximity to the North Warren RSBP bird reserve. There is a fully equipped indoor games room and children’s play area. It is equally suited as a peaceful country retreat, set in 15 acres of enclosed woodland with fantastic south-facing terrace and beautifully landscaped gardens. Just a short drive leads to Aldeburgh’s beach and the sea where there is plenty to do, great for seaside holiday fun. The interior is tastefully furnished with a spacious drawing room with feature marble fireplace, an elegant dining-room, a breakfast room and a sunny day room, all of which have French doors onto the south-facing terrace. The seven bedrooms, two with Sky TV, all have views to the gardens and are comfortably furnished and pleasantly decorated. Aldeburgh’s high street has numerous high quality restaurants, many individual shops, traditional public houses, an independent cinema and award-winning fish and chip shops. There is a super beach which is home to the famous ‘Scallop Sculpture’ by the artist Maggie Hambling and the fishermen’s huts selling the local catch of the day. With its golf course, tennis courts, and sea and river sailing, the town has something for everyone. Aldeburgh is noted for its close association with the composer Benjamin Britten and was the backdrop for many of his operas. Nearby in the village of Snape is the world famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall where the Aldeburgh Music and Arts Festival is held annually. Lovely strolls along the beach or beach path can be enjoyed as well as picturesque drives to other coastal towns and villages of interest including Southwold, Woodbridge, Dunwich, Orford, Thorpeness and Walberswick. 6 miles north of Heath House is the Minsmere RSPB reserve. Accommodation overview: Enjoying a beautiful waterfront location, these three holiday properties (refs CBBH, CBBJ and CYY) have their own private mooring and superb views over the River Thurne and a National Trust wildlife reserve (which featured in the BBC1 TV series Secret Britain). Ferry View, standing detached, and Heigham View, one of a pair, offer spacious accommodation for larger groups and have a first floor balcony where guests can take in the abundant birdlife. Ferry Cottage is a detached, two-bedroomed property with rooms all on the ground floor. All offer the very best in waterside living. For the fisherman, this part of the Broads offers some of the best coarse fishing anywhere in the UK (fishing licence required). For the nature enthusiast, everything is on the doorstep - walking and cycling can be enjoyed along a network of quiet lanes and the river and the Broads can be explored by boat, which can be hired directly from the owner. Winterton-on-Sea is a short drive away with its wonderful sandy beach and dunes. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the north beach is home to a colony of grey seals. The BeWILDerwood Outdoor Adventure Park at Horning offers treehouses, zip wires, jungle bridges and more - all adding up to a great day out for children. The fine city of Norwich with its cathedrals, castle, museums, theatre and vast array of cafes and shops is half an hour away. There is a wealth of National Trust properties to visit in the area, which include Felbrigg Hall, Garden and Park (one of the finest Jacobean houses in East Anglia), the beautifully landscaped Sheringham Park and the magnificent Blickling Hall with its woodland and lakeside walks. Horsey Wind Pump is only 3 miles away (and a good destination for a boat trip). For a special meal or family celebration a gourmet meal can be arranged with the owner.
