Accommodation overview: Close to the sea, forest and heaths. Tinkers cottage is also close to a good pub at Dunwich. Dunwich is an unspoilt coastal village with a mainly shingle beach. The Ship Inn serves good meals as does the Beach Cafe which is well known for its fish and chips - enjoyed best on the beach. Dunwich adjoins Dingle Marshes Nature Reserve, Dunwich Heath (cliff top is National Trust owned) and Minsmere RSPB is only three miles by foot. Southwold and Aldeburgh are both ten miles away. Trains and buses can be found four miles away at Darsham. Tinker's Cottage is only 300 yards from the beach and has excellent walks from the doorstep. Accommodation overview: Drift In is a traditional 'seaside' cottage, situated at the quiet end of the high street, yet within easy reach of the beach and a variety of shops. Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends. Cromer is a traditional seaside resort with a cliff-top setting and wide sandy beaches running down to the sea. It is famous for its fishing boats that still work off the shore and offer freshly caught seafood. The town has a fine pier, a local history museum, a new lifeboat museum, a golf course, multi-screen cinema, Amazonia zoo, indoor children's play barn, Kart Track, cycle hire, shops and restaurants as well as seafront entertainment, making it ideal for a family holiday. Cromer church tower is the tallest in Norfolk and the more adventurous might like to climb to the top to enjoy the wonderful views.
