Accommodation overview: Amidst open countryside, this large detached farmhouse with attached annexe offers substantial flexible accommodation set in Breckland on the borders of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, with the best of East Anglia within easy reach. Surrounded by its own large garden, it is furnished throughout with two sitting rooms, one with a wood-burning stove, one with an open fire and a Stanley range in the large farmhouse kitchen. An ideal holiday venue for family or get together/celebration. It is a short drive to the pretty villages Mundford and Northwold on the edge of Thetford Forest National Park and less than 1 hour’s drive to the stunning North Norfolk Coast with lovely sandy beaches at Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea with many species of unusual wader birds along the coast. Thetford Forest is Britain’s largest lowland pine forest and offers extensive walks and bicycle trails - cycles can be hired from the High Lodge Forest Centre, home of Go Ape. In summer, High Lodge also offers great activities including open-air concerts and music festivals. The imposing NT property Oxburgh Hall is 3 miles; within easy reach are the market towns of Swaffham and Downham, Newmarket for racing or the ever popular cities of Norwich and Cambridge. For a more restful break there is bird watching, fishing or walking. There are footpaths nearby and guests also have use of the owners’ 4-acre orchard. After a day’s sightseeing guests can return to enjoy al fresco dining in the delightful enclosed courtyard.
