Accommodation overview: Alpine Lodge is a detached cottage, situated on the west facing hillside overlooking Loch Lubnaig within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.  The Lodge has a well equipped kitchen open plan to the dining/lounge area. The lounge area has a leather suite, patio doors and windows facing west overlooking the loch.  There is a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, with a further two bedrooms upstairs and a shower room with coombed ceilings.  Two bedrooms have versatile zip & link beds to accommodate singles or couples as preferred.  The porch provides a good space to store and dry outdoor apparel. There is a private aspect to the south with 2 acres of hillside and countryside to enjoy. A short walk over the road and through a meadow (3 acres) gives access to the loch side for fishing (permit required) or to just enjoy and relax.  Boats or canoes can be launched into the loch.  The village of Strathyre is only 2 miles and offers a shop/post office and a number of good places to eat and drink.  This is a fantastic location for outdoor enthusiasts with miles of forest roads and trails to explore for both walking and cycling. The Trossachs has spectacular mountains to climb like Ben Ledi, Ben Venue and Ben Vorlich.  There is an abundance of wildlife to spot, ospreys, red squirrels and pine martens to name a few.   For golfing enthusiasts there are numerous golf courses in the surrounding area.  There are great cycle routes in the forests or on the Sustrans National Cycle Route 7 which runs on the disused Callander to Oban railway line, passing west along Loch Ludnaig. Take a cycle north to Rob Roy's grave located in the churchyard at Balquhidder or through Glen Ogle, over the viaduct to Killin to see and hear the roaring water at the Falls of Dochart. Alternatively head south for Callander to explore the village and all it has to offer, including shops and leisure centre with swimming pool. This is an area steeped in history and there are plenty of places of interest to visit.  Trace the history and folklore of Rob Roy, take a cruise on Loch Katrine Steamship Sir Walter Scott, enjoy the thrilling and beautiful drive over the twisting undulating Duke's Pass, or experience the 3 Lochs Forest Drive.   Blair Drummond Safari Park, located just outside Stirling, is only a half hour drive away or a visit to Stirling provides historical interest or alternatively, a spot of retail therapy. Property has electric heating.
