A short stroll leads to the heart of the village of Scalby, with village shops, 2 pubs, tea rooms/bistro and St Mary’s church. Scalby beck runs adjacent to the village and provides a beautiful backdrop for country walks, whilst the old Scarborough to Whitby railway line can be followed as it winds through the open countryside. The Mount has the advantage of village life whilst all necessary amenities are close to hand. Scarborough has been welcoming guests for more than 300 years and is a bustling seaside town with a colourful promenade, its twin bays and sandy beaches, together with the 1000-year-old castle and all facilities that could be wished for.
To the north of the town is a stunning coastline with the old smuggling village of Robin Hood’s Bay, leading up towards historic Whitby. Across the North Yorkshire Moors, Heartbeat country can be visited, as well as a ride taken on the steam train; alternatively the natural beauty of the area can simply be enjoyed. To the south of the town, the Heritage coast leads down to Filey (with its many varied attractions) and beyond, and the Roman city of York is only 1 hour away. Shops 200 yards.
