Accommodation overview: Perched high above St Austell bay, this impressive Cornish stone farmhouse provides fabulous sea and coastal views across the bay. Standing detached, the house is set in a well established and ideally designed garden, which also provides a perfect spot for relaxing and soaking up the ‘picture postcard’ views. The beach can be found approximately 500 yards away and is perfect for paddling or swimming, yet also has facilities for launching boats, subject to time restrictions. Porthpean is a small hamlet that sits directly on the south Cornwall coast and provides a peaceful secluded spot for a holiday, whilst being within easy access of many of the attractions that Cornwall has to offer. The Cornish coastal path runs close to the property itself and is an ideal trail for walkers to enjoy the coastline. The local 18 hole golf club is also within 500 yards and is open to non members on a ‘pay and play’ basis. The historic village of Charlestown, with its tall sailing ships, shipwreck and heritage centre, restaurants, bars and cafes is 1½ miles distant and can also be reached via the coastal path. The entire village has been designated a conservation area and retains much of its past charm, which is why it is often used as a setting for film and TV. South from Porthpean leads to Pentewan - a small village that has an old harbour that is now used as a bird sanctuary. Cycle hire can be found in the village, as well as sailing facilities and a large beach. A further two miles leads to Mevagissey, with its quaint narrow streets, art galleries, curio shops and working harbour that provides sea fishing, sightseeing trips and a ferry across the bay. Accommodation overview: Just 2 miles from lovely sandy beaches, this sophisticated 19th-century granite chapel conversion enjoys unspoilt views from its landing and galleried first floor living room, and has a secure south-facing garden with a sunny aspect. The Old Chapel is very comfortable and well-equipped and makes an ideal location for a relaxing and fun-filled holiday. Just a 15-minutes walk down a bridle path that leads from the front door of the chapel will take guests into the car park of the Eden Project – impressive geodesic domes filled with flora from around the world. For another pleasant day out the Lost Garden of Heligan is easily accessible. Nearby, the harbour of Charlestown has a Shipwreck and Heritage Centre that charts a fascinating history of fishing, wrecks, mining and migration to North America. It has its own beach, whilst St Austell Bay offers outstanding cliff and coastal scenery with beaches at Carlyon Bay, Porthpean, Pentewan and Par. Across the water, tucked into the hillside between Par and Fowey, the small, picturesque harbour of Polkerris has a sandy beach and is an excellent place for swimming with good, clean waters. Accommodation overview: Set over three levels, this detached holiday house affords spectacular views over Mevagissey Harbour (from all rooms except bathrooms), as well as enchanting far-reaching sea and coastal views, and enjoys a perfect backdrop for al fresco dining.
