There are stunning views over the harbour and across the Dornoch Firth. Killearn is centrally located in the charming village of Portmahomack. The 'Port', as it is affectionately known to the locals, dates back to the Vikings and Picts and has a long fishing history. Small local fishing boats still share the waters with sailboats, windsurfers and, quite often, pods of dolphins. There are two small hotels as well as an excellent seafood restaurant. The crescent-shaped sandy beach is a playground for children and the local 9-hole golf course welcomes visitors, but for those who want to venture further, Tain Golf Course and Royal Dornoch are just a short drive away. Portmahomack is an ideal base for exploring the nearby Tarbet Ness Lighthouse, Tarbet Discovery Centre and the work of local potters and weavers.
