Accommodation
Perched high above St Austell bay, this impressive Cornish stone farmhouse provides fabulous sea and coastal views across the bay. Standing detached, the house is set in a well established and ideally designed garden, which also provides a perfect spot for relaxing and soaking up the ‘picture postcard’ views. The beach can be found approximately 500 yards away and is perfect for paddling or swimming, yet also has facilities for launching boats, subject to time restrictions. Porthpean is a small hamlet that sits directly on the south Cornwall coast and provides a peaceful secluded spot for a holiday, whilst being within easy access of many of the attractions that Cornwall has to offer. The Cornish coastal path runs close to the property itself and is an ideal trail for walkers to enjoy the coastline. The local 18 hole golf club is also within 500 yards and is open to non members on a ‘pay and play’ basis. The historic village of Charlestown, with its tall sailing ships, shipwreck and heritage centre, restaurants, bars and cafes is 1½ miles distant and can also be reached via the coastal path. The entire village has been designated a conservation area and retains much of its past charm, which is why it is often used as a setting for film and TV. South from Porthpean leads to Pentewan - a small village that has an old harbour that is now used as a bird sanctuary. Cycle hire can be found in the village, as well as sailing facilities and a large beach. A further two miles leads to Mevagissey, with its quaint narrow streets, art galleries, curio shops and working harbour that provides sea fishing, sightseeing trips and a ferry across the bay. The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Roseland peninsula are all within a short drive. Shops and pubs 1½ miles. Large, beamed living room with wood-burning stove and views to garden. Large beamed farmhouse-style kitchen/dining conservatory with hand-built units, slate floor and large sitting area with sofa, chairs and coastal views. Play room with TV. Twin bedroom with original feature Victorian fireplace and garden views. Utility/toilet. First floor: Two double bedrooms; one with 6ft zip & links beds, garden and sea views and en-suite bathroom with Victorian roll-top bath, shower cubicle and toilet, and one with wooden floor and garden views. Two twin bedrooms, each with garden views; one with original wooden floor. Bathroom with over-bath shower, toilet and wooden floor.
