This beautiful period house built c. 1820 (all of property in photograph) adjoins another private residence situated on the West Cliff within walking distance of the beach and the many delights of Whitby. This property, in the heart of the town, is very spacious and has a small secluded patio area. Its close proximity to the beach and facilities make it a comfortable and convenient house for a traditional family seaside holiday. The historic port of Whitby is known for its connections with Captain James Cook, and Whitby’s James Cook Museum is well worth a visit. Take a short stroll to Pannett’s Park to visit Whitby Museum, the beautiful gardens and the children’s play area. The colourful harbour and 3 mile stretch of sandy beach is a short walk from the door of Laurel House where the abbey ruins dominate the sky line. Whitby’s West Cliff boasts fun activities such as mini golf, an indoor swimming pool and leisure centre and a spectacular cliff top golf course. There is a myriad of cobbled yards and ginnels with specialist shops, inns and excellent restaurants. The North Yorkshire Moors steam train leaves Whitby at regular intervals throughout the summer and chugs its way through the glorious Esk Valley, stopping at the well-known villages of Grosmont and Goathland, known for their connections with TV’s Heartbeat. Take a day to visit smugglers’ coves and fishing villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, where tumbling little cottages cling to the cliffs. It is a perfect location from which to explore the beautiful Heritage coast of Yorkshire, with Scarborough 20 miles away. Visit the quaint villages that are tucked away deep in the valleys of the North Yorkshire Moors, and are easily accessed. For cycle enthusiasts, Dalby Forest, home to the world mountain bike event is perfect and hosts fun-filled family days out with ’Go Ape’ Adventure Park, live music events, barbecue and picnic areas dotted around the forest.
