VILLAGE LOCATION CLOSE TO PUBS AND SHOPS Situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Nether Stowey, Corner Cottage -Tanyard is attached to the owner's home yet offers peace and privacy, providing an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful county. The village itself is vibrant and busy, and being situated at the foot of the Quantock Hills it provides a great base for walking, riding and other rural pursuits. The village is most famous for being the home for many years of Samuel Taylor Coleridge who lived in the village and wrote several of his poems here. The cottage where he lived in the village is now owned by the National Trust ("Coleridge Cottage") and is open to the public from April to September. You can also walk the "Coleridge Way" where you can follow in the footsteps of the famous poet from Nether Stowey to Porlock. The walk is 36 miles long. The North Somerset coast is about 2-3 miles away. The small port of Watchet and the resort town of Minehead with its sandy beach and typical seaside attractions can be found to the west. Other places of interest include Dunster Castle, Fyne Court Nature Reserve and Hestercombe Gardens on this side of Taunton. Like shopping? Then spend a day at Clarks Village, a retail outlet in Street, or Cribbs Causeway (just off the M5 near Bristol) to empty the purse or fill the credit card. The West Somerset Railway runs throughout the year between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead and is the longest heritage railway in the UK. Stops include Watchet and Blue Anchor Bay on the coast and Dunster. Kilve Beach is 4 miles away and is a good example of a Liassic (mid-Jurassic) fossil beach and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. The accommodation offers TWO bedrooms: double rooms. Bathroom: with shower over bath and WC. Lounge: steps down to the lounge area with gas fire, TV, DVD, video, Freeview and hi-fi.
