Accommodation
Just a short drive from the North Cornish Coast in a truly peaceful location, this grand, detached farmhouse commands an imposing position surrounded by pretty gardens and rolling countryside. Refurbished to a very comfortable standard, it offers spacious accommodation and is ideal for large parties or families wishing to holiday together. The historic village of Stratton is just ¼ mile with its lovely church, attractive inns and village shop. Bude, 2 miles, sits dramatically, perched high on the North Cornish Coast. It is incredibly popular year-round and yet manages to retain its Victorian charm whilst offering something for everyone and has an excellent selection of shops and restaurants, many offering local seafood. Water sports enthusiasts will find some of the best surfing waters in Europe close by, while the golden sands at Widemouth Bay and Crackington Haven (with its rock pools) are ideal for a fun family day out. Walkers, too, are well catered for; gentle strolls can be enjoyed along the towpath of Bude’s canal, which, with its bird hide, attracts all manner of wildlife, while more exhilarating walks can be taken along the spectacular coastal path which winds along high cliffs and includes many lovely, dog-friendly beaches and hidden coves. The Bude and North Cornwall Golf Club (one of Cornwall’s finest) is close by, along with bowling, an indoor ‘Splash’ pool and seawater-fed outdoor pool. Tennis, horse riding, mountain boarding, surfing and fishing are all on offer locally and the internationally acclaimed jazz festival is fantastic and not to be missed. This is a region steeped in legends of King Arthur, with the mystical ruins of a 12th-century castle at Tintagel and the historic coastal village of Boscastle each easily accessible. The picture-postcard village of Clovelly, with winding cobbled streets and quaint fishing harbour lies further north. The Eden Project is also within a short drive; a major attraction, the site promotes the symbiotic relationship between people, plants and natural resources, with three geodesic domes housing plants from around the world. All in all, Trew House offers the perfect base for exploring the many delights which both Devon and Cornwall have to offer. Shop 1/2 mile.
